The best romances aren’t about finding a man to save you, they’re about saving yourself and finding a man along the way. Book Lovers is the story of Nora, a literary agent who needs to control every aspect of her life, learning that sometimes life doesn’t let you control it, especially when other people are involved. Charlie is one of my all-time favorite leading men, a fleshed out character in his own right, yet still unfailingly hot. Every character in this book has their own story, and the world of Sunshine Falls feels vivid and real, a rarity in romance novels.
The writing style is elevated without ever becoming pretentious, and Nora’s narration is funny and engaging. From witty banter to stolen kisses to relatable emotional spirals on the part of the main character, Book Lovers is a well-rounded and unputdownable story of romance, family bonds, and self-discovery that examines common romance tropes then cleverly flips a few of them upside down entirely. Emily Henry has become one of the biggest names in romance for a reason, and Book Lovers is a perfect example of why.
