Official Book News! (And some realities of the biz…)

Ladies and gents, beloved friends and tolerated acquaintances, Romans, countrymen, and everyone in between, at long last I finally have book news to share! *cue applause*

Measure With Your Heart, my debut no-spice romance about a small-town baker who finds herself accidentally in charge of a two-hundred-year-old town-wide Christmas party while slowly falling in love with her best friend, will be available anywhere books are sold online (and in select bookstores) November 10, 2026!

The print book is available for pre-order now (don’t forget to select your favorite indie bookstore to support!) and the e-book will be available for pre-order very, very soon.

Because Amazon doesn’t play nice with other companies, the print book won’t be available on Amazon until its release date.

I’ll be very transparent with you — this is not a profitable business. I make the least in royalties when you pre-order or buy a print book from a bookstore. I make the most in royalties off of e-book preorders and sales. Amazon print books are somewhere in the middle. (Well, technically I make the most when you buy a print book directly from me, and I hand it to you in person, but that’s just not realistic in most cases.)

That being said, pre-orders do help my sales rankings and algorithmic placements (more eyes on my book), and I’ll always advocate for supporting local indie bookstores because they’re a valuable part of communities. And mostly I just want this book to connect with readers who love it.

Whether you choose to buy my book or not (no judgment), you can still help me out by sharing my instagram posts (@kristensommersauthor), telling your friends about this super cool new romance book they should totally read, and requesting that your local library purchase a copy. (Please don’t ask your local bookstore to buy copies unless you know people will buy them, though, because if no one buys physical bookstore copies, they can return them and I actually lose money. Another frustrating reality of the biz.)

Either way, I’m excited for this book that’s been in my head for so long to finally be out in the world! I’m excited for it to find its readers! And mostly I just can’t believe this is actually finally happening.

Stay excellent,
Kristen Sommers
